Class One have been following the Olympic Torch Relay this week. We talked about the journey the flame has made and where it is going. We made our own torches and had fun with our own torch relay on the village green today.

Class 1 heard the story of Pandora's box. They acted it out, decorated their own special boxes and wrote poems about the things they would like to put in their boxes. They worked out what a box looks like if you flatten it and made their own boxes from paper and from construction toys.

Visit to a pottery

Class 1 have been learning about how people used fire in the past. They have made clay pots and discovered that clay changes when it is fired in a kiln. They have learnt that fire can give you light, keep you warm and cook your food.

Class 1's art inspired by the Ancient Greeks


Class 1 have made clay pots, decorated pots in the style of the Ancient Greeks and drawn jugs from observation. They have heard how Prometheus stole fire from the gods and found out how useful fire can be and how dangerous.
